The Purchasing Services Division in the Finance Department is seeking a Procurement Specialist to deliver excellent and professional service to both our internal clients and suppliers/vendors. The candidate will provide complex and challenging procurement services for a wide variety of supplies and services required by our municipal departments. This includes assessing business needs, performing research/analysis of products/services, negotiating contracts and participating in the review of vendor performance. The candidate will need to be service focused, adaptable and a problem solver.
Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; degree or diploma in related field and completion of a recognized purchasing professional development program (e.g. Purchasing Management Association of Canada Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Accreditation or equivalent); minimum four years of complex technical purchasing experience including construction tendering, preferably in a public environment; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence and a personal vehicle available for use as and when required.

The responsibilities of the staff under the oversight of this position include general procurement, enterprise wide purchasing card, non-employee travel, supplier payments, logistics, customs, and surplus asset disposal activities and functions as an integrated and highly functioning service for all University units and Affiliates.
