The Purchasing Services Division in the Finance Department is seeking a Procurement Specialist to deliver excellent and professional service to both our internal clients and suppliers/vendors. The candidate will provide complex and challenging procurement services for a wide variety of supplies and services required by our municipal departments. This includes assessing business needs, performing research/analysis of products/services, negotiating contracts and participating in the review of vendor performance. The candidate will need to be service focused, adaptable and a problem solver.
Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; degree or diploma in related field and completion of a recognized purchasing professional development program (e.g. Purchasing Management Association of Canada Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Accreditation or equivalent); minimum four years of complex technical purchasing experience including construction tendering, preferably in a public environment; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence and a personal vehicle available for use as and when required.

The Manager/Contract Specialist is responsible for leading and overseeing the operation of the unit including management of staff under the direction of the Director. The responsibilities of the staff under the oversight of this position include general procurement, enterprise wide purchasing card, non-employee travel, supplier payments, logistics, customs, and surplus asset disposal activities and functions as an integrated and highly functioning service for all University units and Affiliates.
